The drive from Gauteng/Alberton takes roughly 6 to 6.5 hours depending on toll plazas and rest stop breaks. • The Setup: Once you arrive at your guest house, your first port of call will be the Gateway Theatre Of Shopping. It houses massive Checkers Hyper, Woolworths Food, and Pick n Pay supermarkets. This makes it incredibly easy to load up your car trunks with fresh meats, braai wood, coal, breakfast essentials, and snacks to fully stock your self-catering kitchen. • The Vibe: Staying in a guest house with your own cars gives you complete flexibility. You can cook group breakfasts at your own pace, throw an epic late-afternoon South African braai on Saturday, and use your private vehicles to easily hop between the uMhlanga Promenade, Whalebone Pier, and the nature reserves.
